A slide joins two notes by dragging your finger along the fingerboard without releasing pressure. Vibrato is a small, regular wobble in the pitch of a sustained note. Both are expressive devices: they make the guitar "sing" instead of just delivering notes.
Step 1 of 5 · Short slide
Fret the 5th fret of the third string with your ring finger and pick it. Without releasing pressure, slide your finger up to the 7th fret. Ease off and the note dies; press too hard and the finger drags.
